How to Recall an Email in Gmail

Enable the “Undo Send” feature

Before you can recall an email, you must first enable the “Undo Send” feature in Gmail.

Here’s how:

Open Gmail and click on the gear icon in the top right corner.
Select “Settings” from the dropdown menu.
Scroll down to the “Undo Send” section and select the checkbox next to “Enable Undo Send.”
Choose the cancellation period that you prefer. This will be the amount of time you have to recall an email after you’ve sent it. The options range from 5 to 30 seconds.
Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

Now that you’ve enabled the “Undo Send” feature in Gmail, you can recall an email if you’ve made a mistake.

Here’s how:

After you’ve sent an email, you’ll see a message at the top of your screen that says “Your message has been sent.” Along with this message, you’ll see an option to “Undo” the send. Click on this option.
If you clicked “Undo” within the cancellation period, the email will not be sent, and you can edit the email and resend it. If you clicked “Undo” after the cancellation period has passed, the email will have already been sent and cannot be recalled.

To confirm that your email has been recalled, follow these steps:

Go to the “Sent” folder in your Gmail account.
Look for the email that you just recalled.
If the email was successfully recalled, you’ll see a message at the top of the screen that says “Your message was successfully undone.”
